about

  • Finding inspiration in the traditional way of doing things

I use making and creativity to ground myself, connect with places, process memories, and work through emotions. Through my patterns and workshops, I hope to share those experiences with you!

Having lived in five different countries and moved over 80 times, I draw inspiration from the different places that I’ve called home. I believe that the act of making something by hand, with quality materials and bold colours, brings joy and relaxation. I grew up in a culture with a focus on craftsmanship and mindfully using the materials around us—whether to build a house or make a toy—had a huge impact on me. Once I had children of my own and experienced a seemingly endless onslaught of plastic toys, I became increasingly aware of the importance of choosing quality and beauty with care.

  • Rooted in memories

My favourite way to create patterns is through direct observation in nature. Different plants hold such deep meaning, as if their roots build a connection to memories of people and places dear to me. I've filled my garden with flowers, and love to create with the seasons. The places I've lived all over the world each have their own unique flora, and I capture these in the different designs I create.

I create embroidery and sewing kits so that you can get started immediately on creating your own work of art. I write detailed descriptions with clear diagrams and instructions to take you by the hand and lead you through the process. Working on an embroidery project can be an incredibly relaxing way to get out of your head and experience the joy of making something by hand. I want to make that process enjoyable for you by creating complete kits with high-quality materials and beautiful patterns that are a joy to create.

  • Hand-printed designs

I love the process of hand-carving and printing and the joy it brings to create designs in this way, how the process of carving refines initial design ideas, creating a flowing pattern within the confines of a repeating shape. I use these patterns both in my fabric designs and as details in my embroidery patterns. I also teach this process of designing in local classes and will be launching online classes soon.
