Stitch tutorials
Sometimes watching how something is done is easier than reading a description, so I'll add videos here of some of the stitches used in my patterns. More coming soon!
Peaceful bedroom woven stitch The woven stitch is used to make the pillow in the peaceful bedroom pattern. This video shows step by step how to weave the pattern. A few things to pay attention to: The further apart you place your initial stitches, the easier it will be to weave in the second step. Start with the dark blue horizontal stitches and completely fill the pillow shape. In the second step, weave with grey following the pattern in the instruction booklet. Using a blunt needle makes it easier to weave because your needle won't catch in the thread. The first few rows are the hardest! After that you'll start to see the pattern emerging, so don't give up too soon. |
Knit stitch tutorial This stitch emulates the appearance of knit fabric. Start at the bottom of the area you are filling and create stitches in an upward line. Begin by making a small twisted loop which lies on top of your fabric, do not pull too tight or the loop will dissapear. Bring your needle down at B (Step 1). Think of an invisible grid of dots on the area you will fill, and bring your needle up at C. You will follow this row of dots up your line and the second and sub-sequent rows of stitching will end where these begin (compare step 3). Bring your needle up through the twisted loop to secure it, and create a new twisted loop, bringing your needle back down through the first loop and into the fabric at D. Continue repeating this step until your row of stitches has the desired length. The final stitch is secured with a very small stitch at the top (see step 3). To create a second row, bring your thread back down to the bottom and stitch a second row from bottom to top, connecting the two by ending your stitches (D) where the previous row's stitches began (C). |
