Introducing my newest fabric collection: Oma's garden

My inspiration for this collection is the memory of my grandmother and the plants from her garden that continue to bloom in my garden now. When her house was sold after her death a year ago, I dug up snowdrops, crocuses, lavender and a few shrubs and transplanted them into our own garden. The process sparked memories of time spent with her and things I’ve learned from her. I wrote about the design process and inspiration for the main print in an earlier post. In this post I want to introduce the whole collection.

The colours in this collection are soft pastels reminiscent of spring: mint greens and lavender with lots of white. I paired watercolour textures with more graphic linoprint designs and shapes for a calm and gentle mood that provides interest and contrast through the lines and textures. To create a whole collection, I wanted designs that would both complement and contrast with each other while keeping a cohesive feeling. Simple shapes combine with more intricate linework and paint textures, and small scale designs work well together with some of the larger-scale main prints. The collection includes main prints, floral fillers, polkadots and stripes and three plain watercolour textures.

All the designs are available on fabric and wallpaper in my shop. You can choose from a whole array of base fabric suitable for different sewing projects, or choose from three different types of wallpaper or home goods. Browse the collection of fabrics and home goods here.
